Jumbo Go Away - Frank Zappa - You Are What You Is (CD, Album)

Originally a two-record set featuring 20 songs, You Are What You Is skewered a variety of targets, from teenagers, punk rock, disco, and country music to the media, yuppies, the beauty-and-fitness industry, upper-class vice, religious hypocrisy, suicide, and the military draft -- all the trappings of Reagan-era America. Occasionally, Zappa's satirical points seem ill-thought-out, if not unnecessarily malicious; Price: $

  1. An absolute masterpiece, and arguably the greatest album of the 's. Zappa's "You Are What You Is", another gem from the master satirist and guitarist, offers the listener more of his quirky outlook and biting satire on life, religion, war, and fat women (Jumbo), which others have expressed as being mean/5().

  2. Reissue of this album by the eccentric Rock icon. You Are What You Is trades in much of Zappa's usual musical acrobatics for more polished and understated fare and increasingly political satire. Released in , this album contains Zappa's takes on the smell of teen spirit, organized religion, Saturday Night Live's Coneheads, and even racial issues/5().
